QUINQUIS – Inkanuko (Luca Perry Remix)
Breton producer QUINQUIS (Émilie Quinquis) releases the eor Remixes EP featuring three reworked tracks from her recent album eor. Luca Perry tackles “Inkanuko” featuring Desire Marea, keeping the Breton-and-Zulu vocal interplay intact while building a new electronic framework around it. Perry, who works as a producer, DJ, and musical director for Romy and HAAi, is a longtime friend of Émilie’s and spent time at her studio on the remote island of Ushant.
Perry’s approach honours the original’s fragile vocal melodies from QUINQUIS and Desire Marea, leaving them untouched while crafting club-oriented productions that don’t overpower the source material. Perry says the vocals are intricate and beautiful, so they kept them intact and built a new sound world with a nod to the club.
The remix draws from Perry’s experiences at QUINQUIS’ Ushant studio, surrounded by sea, rocks, hills, and stormy weather. Those sessions deepened Perry’s understanding of Breton language, culture, and history, which informed the remix’s electronic approach while maintaining what Perry calls the natural feeling. The eor Remixes EP also includes Gwenno’s remix of “Morwreg” and a reimagining of “Aet On” by French DJ and producer Flore. The original eor album explores stories from Émilie’s island home, weaving together mythology, language, and landscape.
